Pool Rules

General Pool Rules

All WVA rules and General Recreation Facility Rules and Regulations must be followed while at any pool facility.

Swimming in pool facilities is limited to specific hours posted at each pool entrance and subject to change without notice.

Facility gates are to remain closed at all times.

All swimmers should shower prior to entering the water.

No person(s) having skin lesions, sores, inflamed eyes, mouth, nose or ear discharges, or who is a carrier of any communicable disease shall use the pools, waders, or spas.

Urinating, blowing the nose, or depositing any foreign matter in the water is prohibited.

Food (including gum) and drinks are prohibited in the pool area.  They may be consumed 3 feet from the edge of any water facility.

Smoking is prohibited within Association buildings, gated family and adult facilities, and within twenty (20) feet of all member's entrances to these facilities.

Glass items of any kind are expressly prohibitied in the pool area.

No running, pushing, horseplay, or mischievous behavior is allowed within an enclosed (fenced) aquatic facility.  Dunking, swearing, spitting, etc., is prohibited.

No cut-offs or clothing other than normal swimming attire is allowed to be worn while in any pool, wader, or spa.

Fins, hard balls, boogie boards, rafts, inflatable animals, and inner tubes are not permitted in any pool, wader, or spa.

All children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers or waterproof rubber pants with their diapers at all times while in the water.

Deck furniture is not permitted within 5 feet of the water.  At the lagoons deck furniture is not permitted within 10 feet of the water.

Age Restrictions

Children under eight (8) years of age must be accompanied by an adult into guarded facilties, and in the water.

Children ages eight (8) through seventeen (17) must have a Facility Identification card to enter the facility.

No minor (under age 18) may enter a non-guarded pool facility unless accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Any guests of members under eighteen (18) years of age should have written permission to swim and an emergency phone number, which may be requested by the lifeguard on duty before the child will be allowed to enter the pool.

Diving Board Rules

Diving is only permitted in specified areas of the pool.

Area must be clear before diving.

Only one person at a time is to use the diving board and ladder.

Only one bounce per dive is allowed; divers must jump straight off the board, and return to the ladder closest to the diving board that they jumped off.  Swimming in the diving area is prohibited.

A child must be able to swim the width of the pool before using the diving board, and may be asked to demonstrate this ability to the lifeguard on duty, before using the diving board.

Back dives from the side of the pool are strictly prohibited.

Spa Rules

Children fourteen (14) years and under, using a spa, must be accompanied by an adult who is either in the spa or within 10 feet of the spa.

Wader Rules

No person over eight (8) years of age is allowed in the wading pools.

Children under eight (8) years of age using the wading pool must have an adult within 10 feet of them, at all times.

Lifeguards at Staffed Facilities

Lifeguard on duty is in charge at all times.

Lifeguards may request that individuals prove their swimming ability.  Lifeguards may restrict non-swimmers to the shallow area of the pool or lagoon.

Pool users will be limited to a safe number as determined by the lifeguard on duty.

A ten (10) minute "Safety Break" (adult swim) may be called at ten minutes to the hour, every hour, by the lifeguard.
