Community Emergency Response Team (CERT): Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Are you REALLY ready for an Emergency? The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, is a program designed to prepare citizens to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. In the event of an emergency, professional emergency service personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately. The City of Irvine and our over 200,000 residents will need to be self-sufficient for a minimum of three to five days. The CERT program provides individuals with the skills to provide for their own families and their neighbors following a disaster. Therefore, CERT training can make a difference in saving lives and protecting property in our community. The CERT program is already being utilized in neighborhoods, businesses, and in schools nationwide.
The CERT organization utilizes the Incident Command System, a structure that has been adopted by all professional emergency responders throughout the United States including the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority. CERT volunteers operate under this same system in which roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.
Learn how to be prepared for an emergency by attending this free seminar led by CERT-trained individuals and representatives from the Irvine Police Department. We cannot prevent emergencies, but we can be prepared.
Does your family have a plan in case of an emergency? If you answered "No," then this seminar is for you. It is designed to provide the necessary tools to you and your family to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
Before an emergency happens, make sure your family has a plan. If you are interested in attending this seminar, please RSVP by Wednesday March 21st at (949) 786-1800.
Preparing Makes Sense. Get Ready Now.
Date: Thursday, March 29th Time: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Cost: Free Seminar Location: Woodbridge Community Center |

Spring Semi-Group Swim Lessons
Woodbridge Village Association plans to bring a spring series of semi-group swim lessons to Woodbridge again this year! This is a perfect opportunity to start your children early so they can get a head start learning swimming techniques for the summer. There will be three sessions offered. Each session will consist of six days of a 25 minute lesson per two week session. The spring program is structured so that within a two week period the emphasis is on improvement of swimming and safety skills. As each person is an individual, each has a different rate of learning. It is not at all unusual for a student to spend two or three sessions at any specific level. In fact, it is sometimes advantageous to stay at the same level, in order to build a strong foundation to make the next level a satisfying experience for both the student and the instructor.
All classes have a minimum and maximum enrollment to afford the most effective learning situation for the student. Woodbridge Participation Certificates will be given to each participant who completes his/her swim class.
