| Motorized
Scooter Courtesy
The
Association has received increased comments and complaints recently
regarding the use of motorized scooters in our community. Most of
the complaints received involve younger riders and are related to
noise, unsafe and/or illegal use and “circling” the
neighborhood frequently.
Motorized scooters
are street-legal vehicles with restrictions that are specified in
the California Vehicle Code. Among other requirements, operators
must be at least 16 years of age, must wear a helmet and may not
carry passengers. Also, they may not be ridden on any City maintained
sidewalks, which would include the trails along both North and South
Lake.
The Association
is requesting that parents monitor their children’s use of
motorized scooters and remind them to be safe and use courtesy when
operating them in the community. Residents wishing to report the
illegal use of motorized scooters should contact the Irvine Police
Department at 949/724-7200.
Thank you in
advance for your attention and cooperation. We believe that, with
a little courtesy, most of the conflict related to this issue would
be resolved.
Leashes Required for All
Dogs
The Association
continues to receive comments and concerns regarding residents who
either walk their dogs and allow them to run off leash, or simply
open their garage door and let their dog out to roam the neighborhood.
The Association has received several reports of incidents where loose
dogs have attacked or frightened other residents walking in the community.
Please note
that Association rules and a City of Irvine Ordinance prohibit dog
owners from allowing their dog to run off leash. In addition, leashes
may not exceed six feet in length. The Association’s Board
of Directors has adopted these rules in an attempt to prevent dogs
from attacking humans or other animals and to protect the dog. Unleashed
dogs have been known to stray into the street and be killed or injured
by passing vehicles.
The Association
does permit dog owners to run their dog off leash in the Retention
Basin adjacent to Wintermist Park between the hours of 5 AM and
9 PM daily, provided that the dog does not damage the existing garden
plots or become a threat to people or other pets using the basin.
In addition, Central Bark, a public park for off-leash play, is
open every day except Wednesday from 6:30 AM to 9 PM. Central Bark
is located at 6405 Oak Canyon.
The Board of
Directors requests that all residents observe the Association’s
leash rules and respect their neighbors when walking their dogs.
If you see a dog off leash and would like to report it, please contact
the Community Services Department at 949/786-1800 or Irvine Police
at 949/724-7200. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Association Extends Appreciation to Lake Patrol Volunteer
The Association is pleased to introduce our Lake Patrol volunteer,
Ruth Smith. Ruth began patrolling the Woodbridge lakes as of the
end of September 2003 and plans to dedicate several hours nearly
each day to the community. Ruth is replacing John Silk, who has
retired after more than 15 years of patrolling the lakes.
Ruth will be
patrolling the lakes either in the patrol golf cart or on her bicycle
and will be primarily checking for fishing permits and warning those
whose dogs are off leash.
The Board of Directors thanks Ruth in advance for her hard work
and her contribution to the community. |

Animal
Control
Helpful Tips from
the Community Services Department
The City of
Irvine Animal Control is a public service agency designed to provide
residents in Irvine with Animal Control services. We recognize that
the City's program and their ability to enforce the standards have
been very beneficial to Woodbridge residents, and we continue to
encourage all residents to contact the City when a particular animal
question or problem needs to be resolved. Animal Control can be
reached by calling 949/724-7200.
One of the most
common complaints that the Association receives is dogs off leash
and/or residents not cleaning up after their dogs. Please note that
the Association’s Rules and Regulations require that dogs
be on leash at all times and that residents clean up their dog’s
waste. The Association’s facility patrol staff enforces these
rules, but we do encourage residents who witness violations to contact
us so that a patrol unit can be sent to resolve the problem.
Association
rules permit residents to allow their dog(s) to run off leash within
the Retention basin adjacent to Wintermist park/pool provided that
the animal does not become a danger to other residents in the basin.
Also, doggie bag stations are in convenient locations throughout
the community to assist residents with dog waste removal.
RV Parking
With the summer
traveling season just around the corner, we know that many residents
will want to bring their RV’s to their homes prior to and after
their trip. If you plan to bring your RV in to the community or have
a friend or relative visiting with an RV, please be aware of the following
rules.
Temporary parking
of RV’s is permitted provided that you obtain a permit. Only
one (1) permit will be issued at a time to the Woodbridge Village
Association homeowner or registered tenant for a maximum of three
(3) days in any thirty (30) day period. A maximum of six (6) permits
will be issued in any calendar year. The permit must be displayed
on the vehicle at all times in such a manner so as to be clearly
visible from the street (preferably inside of the vehicle window
above the steering wheel).
A permit is not required when a vehicle is being immediately loaded,
unloaded or cleaned for a period of not more than eight (8) hours
within a twenty-four (24) hour period. However, the homeowner or
registered tenant must call the Woodbridge Village Association Community
Relations Department when the vehicle enters Woodbridge to park,
and temporary parking will be verbally approved. Verbal approval
shall not be granted for more than four (4) eight (8) hour intervals
in any thirty (30) day period and in no event for more than twenty-four
(24) eight (8) hour intervals in any calendar year.
Residents living within a Maintenance Association should check with
that Association for any additional rules pertaining to parking
RV’s within the common area.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these rules. If
you have any questions, please contact the Dispatcher on duty at
949/786-1800.
