Lost and Found Items
Items that are lost at parks, pools, beach clubs, and on common areas are sometimes turned into the Woodbridge Village Association (WVA) office. Items that have been turned into the Association are kept for a minimum of three months and then donated to charity (valuable items may be kept longer). The Association has provided lost and found bins at the Beach Clubs, Blue Lake Swim Club, Stonecreek and Woodflower facilities for your convenience. These bins are often filled with clothing, towels, swimming goggles and non-valuable items.
If you recently lost an item while using a Woodbridge facility, please call the office at (949) 786-1800.

Association Launches WiFi Network at Stonecreek Swim Club
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Association has launched a WiFi network at Stonecreek Swim Club.  This new service allows members and guests to enjoy the internet and Southern California’s climate while lounging at the pool!
To use the network, please follow the instructions below.  These instructions are also posted on the bulletin board at Stonecreek Swim Club and on the Association’s web site at www.wva.org.
To access the 802.11 WiFi, select WVA from your list of available wireless networks and press connect.  Your PC should connect to the network and Windows may provide a prompt asking if you want to connect to a non-secured network.  Accept the connection.  At this point, you may launch your internet browser.  You will get a pop up window with a security notice.  Accept the pop up and you will be redirected to the log in page.  For access to internet services, you will be required to press the accept button.  By pressing the accept button, you are agreeing to all terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.
The network is supported around the clock by a 3rd party service.  If you have any difficulty accessing the network, please contact support at (949) 471-0101 and press 1 for support.
Please note that the system is designed such that a strong signal will only be received within the gated pool area.  There is no extra charge to utilize the network – the service is covered by your dues.
The Association is interested in your comments regarding the WiFi network at Stonecreek and whether you would like to see WiFi added at other facilities in the community.  Please contact Kevin K. Chudy, Executive Director, at kevin@wva.org or at (949) 786-1800, ext. 137 with any comments.

Memorial Bench

A View of a Lifetime
The Jennings family purchased a memorial bench through the Association late last year and it was recently installed on North Lake Island with a stunning view of the lake and the distant mountains.  The bench is a tribute to Ed and Bonnie Jennings and the plaque recognizes the location as their view of a lifetime together.
Ed, 85, and Bonnie, 83, have been Woodbridge residents since 1982!  Ed has served on his local Association Board for 19 years, including the last 17 years as President.
Bonnie is also an active member of the community, having been involved with the Woodbridge Women’s Club for many years, including several terms as President, Vice President, Second Vice President and Membership Chairman.
The Association’s Memorial Bench and Tree Program offers residents the opportunity to purchase a memorial bench or tree for placement in an Association common area.  Currently the Association has over 20 memorial benches installed in the community.  If you are interested in purchasing a memorial bench or tree, please contact the Association’s Executive Director, Kevin Chudy, at 949/786-1800, ext. 137 or at kevin@wva.org.

Association Announces Hiring
of New Executive Director

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it recently hired Kevin Chudy to succeed Bob Figeira as the Association’s Executive Director. Kevin arrived at the Association in late June and has been working closely with Bob to ensure a smooth transition.
Many residents are already familiar with Kevin. He previously served at the Association from 1991 to 2005, including 7 years as the Association’s Community Relations Manager. In 2005, Kevin left Woodbridge to serve as the on-site General Manager at Woodbury Community Association in Irvine – just a couple of miles down the road from Woodbridge.
Kevin is a proud Woodbridge High School graduate and received a history degree from California State University, Long Beach. In 2000, Kevin received his Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM) certification from the California Association of Community Managers. In 2003, he received his Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) certification from Community Associations Institute. Both of these certifications require extensive continuing education in the various aspects of managing the business affairs of a community association.
Kevin resides in nearby Rancho Santa Margarita with his wife Brook, and their children, Matthew, 9 and McKenna, 5.
Kevin can be reached at his office at 949/786-1800, ext. 137 or at kevin@wva.org.
Please join us in welcoming Kevin back to Woodbridge and wishing him many successful years here!

For more information regarding the renewal process, please contact the Recreation Department.

Global Pool Facility Hours
Study Underway

The Board of Directors has directed staff and the Recreation Committee to study the pool facility hours at all of the Association’s pool facilities to determine if the current hours are sufficient and if any changes are appropriate. The Committee will be studying this issue in 2010 and invites residents to submit any comments they have in writing to Ralph Redington at Ralph@wva.org or to Ralph Redington, Recreation Manager, Woodbridge Village Association, 31 Creek Road, Irvine, CA 92604.

Revised Election Rules and Bylaw Amendment Approved
At the December 2, 2009 meeting, the Board of Directors approved revised Election Rules and a Bylaw Amendment as previously published to the membership.  Please CLICK HERE to read the amendments.
These amendments establish a coin flip procedure to resolve election ties without a new costly election process and to eliminate the tabulation costs of ballots if the number of candidates is equal to or fewer than the number of open positions.  These amendments could save the Association thousands of dollars each election cycle.
Please contact Kevin K. Chudy, Executive Director, at 949/786-1800, ext. 137 or at Kevin@wva.org if you have any questions.

2010 Budget Approved by Board
After many months of review and discussion, the Board of Directors adopted the 2010 Budget and set the regular monthly assessment at $80 per unit at its October 7th meeting.
The adoption of the 2010 Budget is the culmination of many hours of work by our resident volunteer committees, particularly Finance, Compensation, the Board of Directors and Staff.
This Budget reflects a commitment to maintain the current level of services enjoyed by our residents and to preserve the “Woodbridge Way of Life”.
Due to an increase in operating costs and reserve funding, the 2010 monthly assessment was set at $80 per unit. This is an increase of $2 per unit over the 2009 year. Our reserves will provide the necessary funding to continue the repairs and replacement of items around the lakes and various common areas within the Association.
A detailed summary of the adopted Budget will be mailed to all members with their December billing statements. If you should have any questions, please contact Carrie Romero at 786-1800 extension 138 or at Carrie@wva.org.

Families Forward
Food Drive Continues

Families Forward is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help families in need achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through housing, counseling and other support services.
Families Forward serves almost 400 individuals each month with groceries. All the food that is distributed to these families is donated by individuals and groups in the community.
If you are interested in making a food donation, please drop off non-opened and non-expired donations at the Woodbridge Village Association, located at 31 Creek Road in Irvine.

Salt Chlorination Systems at Woodbridge Facilities
In 2007, the Association installed a commercial salt chlorination system at the Woodflower pool facility. The Association has received numerous comments from residents in support of the salt chlorination system, noting the clear water and reduced skin irritation.
The salt chlorination system generates chlorine from salt dissolved in the pool water. The salted water is pumped through a filtration system that converts the salt into natural chlorine which destroys bacteria, viruses and algae. The salt chlorination system eliminates the use of liquid chlorine, lowers operating costs and reducing eye and skin irritation from chemicals.
Due to the overwhelming support from residents salt chlorination systems are now available at Woodflower, Springvale, Stonecreek Swim Club, and Blue Lake Swim Club. Additionally, the Association intends to add salt systems at Wintermist, Smokestone and Woodspring in 2010.

Access Your Account
Information Online

In June, the Board of Directors approved the installation of a web-based feature for residents to access their account information online. Residents will have a unique log in and password which will enable them to review their account balance and payment history. The program will be operational by mid September, and all you need is your account number and a temporary password which will be listed on your October billing statement to access your information.
After you receive your October billing statement, log on to www.wva.org and click on the link called Resident Account Information. You will then be asked to enter your account number (without any dashes) and your temporary password which is located in the blue box on the top left of your statement. When you initially log on, you will then be asked to change your password. After changing your password, you will be able to access your account information.
Also coming soon, Woodbridge Village Association is pleased to offer residents the convenience of paying your monthly association dues online. This system uses the Federal Reserve System’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) to deduct your monthly association dues from your checking or savings account. Residents simply need to log in to the website and enter your banking information on our secure site and we will do the rest!
If you should have any questions, please contact the Association office at (949) 786-1800.
