Vice President Fenner made a special presentation honoring Trevor Hogan, in appreciation for his Eagle Scout project that permanently marked the 5K and 10K running courses within Woodbridge. Trevor worked with city officials and private contractors to install a concrete monument at the south end of North Lake, delineating the 5K and 10K running courses within the loop. In addition, the Association is working with a contractor to construct a map showing the locations of the markers for those interested in keeping fit by jogging around the 5K and 10K Association trails.

President Ross recognized the winners of Woodbridge’s First Photo Contest. The seven categories and winners were:

  1. Lakes (Lena Pham);
  2. Bridges (Cau Pham);
  3. Sunsets (Wendy Huck Hannappel);
  4. Gazebos (Victor Carreon);
  5. Landscapes (Paris Merriam);
  6. Animals (Nicholas J. Richter); and
  7. People (Mike Byrum).

President Ross addressed the membership, giving a summary of the major accomplishments of the Association’s Board of Directors, Administration/Accounting, Community Relations, Maintenance, and Recreation Departments. Mr. Ross cited one of the accomplishments: a computerized software application processing system that has improved tracking the number and type of home improvement applications. President Ross then reported that the Board was finalizing an agreement with the IRWD to provide a ready source of water for the North and South Lakes.

The evening’s first co-speaker, Mr. Sean Joyce, Assistant City Manager of the City of Irvine, updated the members on the various development projects currently underway or planned within the city.

The second speaker, Mr. Wally Kreutzen, CEO, of the Orange County Great Park Corp, informed the members of the steps followed in order to ensure the construction and completion of the Great Park. Although the Great Park is a multi-year project, Mr. Kreutzen shared some of the specific guidelines that will be in place in the near future.

The Board recognized the Architectural, Facilities, Finance and Recreation committee members for their outstanding service and presented each member with a commemorative gift.

At the end of the evening, the final tally was announced for the four incumbent candidates who were re-elected to serve on the Board of Directors. From the North Lake: Dick Fenner, with 2,974 votes, and Barry Ross, with 3,130 votes; and, from the South Lake: Fran Bakst, with 3,047 votes, and Dale Cheema, with 3,466 votes.

There were not enough votes received to officially move forward on Proposition “A”; therefore, the Board of Directors will be discussing alternatives to contacting those members who did not vote in order to promote this change to the association bylaws.
It was an informative evening and all those attending appreciated the time and effort spent by volunteers who continuously assist the Association.
